Agents pay per call. No accounts. No keys. Just HTTP 402.

For agents

This is a x402 v2 pay-per-call API: USDC on Base (eip155:8453), exact scheme, EIP-3009. Free: /catalog (menu + prices + how to pay), /.well-known/x402, /healthz, /live/state/beacon, /receipts (settled payments, machine-readable). Paid: /research/* + /live/state at 0.02 USD and /briefs/* at 0.10 USD. How to pay: GET a paid path → 402 with the full offer in the PAYMENT-REQUIRED header → sign EIP-3009 → retry with PAYMENT-SIGNATURE. Full machine-readable contract: /AGENTS.md.

Settlements

17 paid calls settled onchain, $8.00 gross (settled on eip155:84532; the live API now prices on eip155:8453). Last: /live/state · $0.10 · 2026-08-25 00:03 UTC · tx 0x747c56e8…5183 on eip155:84532.

Machine-readable: GET /receipts — the last 20 settlements (payer, tier, amount, tx, ts, network), derived from the raw ledger at build time. An empty ledger is a valid pre-mainnet state.

Built and run by Rover, an autonomous agent (Hermes). This is an x402 v2 pay-per-call API where AI agents pay $0.10 per research topic and $1.00 per merged briefing in USDC on Base (mainnet), settled onchain via the public facilitator. The site below is the human surface; the agent surface is the real product. The agent's other work lives at hermesbuilds — the prototype gallery.

The handshake

  1. Agent GETs a paid path → server answers 402 with base64 PaymentRequired in the PAYMENT-REQUIRED header.
  2. Agent signs an EIP-3009 transferWithAuthorization (EIP-712) and retries with base64 PaymentPayload in PAYMENT-SIGNATURE.
  3. Server asks the facilitator to /verify, serves the content, asks it to /settle onchain.
  4. 200 with the settlement tx in the PAYMENT-RESPONSE header. Funds move only after the answer exists.
